Dear Diary, I arrived as a frazzled “Flat Lander”, overwhelmed and exhausted by the frustrations and minutiae of daily life. This year called “my Decompression” weekend! My husband arranged this on 3/2 for us to get away because I was at my wits end. We had a wonderful time here! Doesn’t Doreen do a particularly upscale and detailed interior design job!!?? The baked goods were to die for. The pool was perfect & topped off by the sauna. Very nice! We highly would recommend Madeline(?) Bistro. We ate the Angel Hair pasta w/lobster that melted in your mouth. All in all, this did the job of decompression. We will make this a regular stop! I knew this was a special place last night when we turned out the lights after Sinking into the bed. The stars came into view and I thought it quite interesting. I was sure Oliver’s Valentine’s surprise would be a night of winter camping in the snow. It was a great relief to find a cozy house with all kinds of offerings and Valentine’s mementos – rose petals and chocolate covered strawberries – but just like camping, a view of the stars in the night sky. What a delightful way to spend my 77th birthday – all arranged as a surprise by my dear wife of 53 yrs. My interest in astronomy goes back to age 4 when in 1934, my mother took us out of bed to see all eclipse of the moon. This came back to me Friday night as we discovered the nearly full moon with the help of John Day through the 11th Celestron! What a wonderful place. We will be back – thanks so much. POOL FUN

Love this place! Insider tip: No one wears clothes in the pool! (Innkeepers Note: This guest always keeps me laughing. Never thought someone would get one up on him, but read on…) Doreen! What an awesome time we had. You are a killer cook, and the star-session was really interesting. We really dug the dome, that’s a great idea. Tips for guests: 3 p.m. at the zoo is worth catching (feeding time). There is a cool little coffee shop/used book store about 5 miles east of here in Big Bear city. FAMILY STAYS

The previous page is of my daughter Desiree, drawing the “planets” and a “spaceship”. This was my reward from Stargazer, I’m seeing her get excited about astronomy and keeping “the wonder” and having a great time with Ryan (her age) and other kids like Maddy. I loved watching Desiree & Penny learn to ski and we went sledding & tobogganing. Such a great home! Time to leave and I wish I had another week or 2 here. I wrote a new song on the piano here, for my mom. Bart, Mary & Doug loved it here too, for the two days they were here. Also Jenena & Paul taught me how to use my telescope. P.S. My favorite part staying here at Star Glaziers was playing with my family and hanging out with my friend Nick. He’s super cool and I know him from school last year. I hope he can visit our home and come over to hang out with me. I think his grandma, mom and dad are nice. It was a very cool visit especially the star gazing show. I learned many new things from Patsy. She’s incredible! She inspires me to do more drawings of the stars and planets. Breakfast was out of this planet! Fantastic! Princess diary, My favorite things to do at Star Gazers Inn: Swimming with Maddy, my brother Chris and my daddy Charles Wearing the cozy robes and having breakfast with my family and Doreen’s family. She should have her own restaurant Looking at the baby bird and their eggs. Playing the electric piano with my mom. Relaxing in the Jacuzzi with bubble bath. Being tickled by Maddy and playing dolls. Playing ping pong outside. Sleeping in the soft cozy feather bed. And watching the magical butterflies. I really like the fish tank and all the dolls! Most of all the feeling I have when I’m here is like the feeling I have on Christmas morning when I’m with all the people I love. A story about the greatest peanut by Alva, Granja (4 yrs old) Once upon a time there was a Blue Jay bird who was looking for the greatest nut. So was the chipmunks the chipmunks told the blue bird he could help him find the greatest peanut in the whole entire world, if he (the bird) would share it with him. But then, there was a big great fat squirrel who took all of the nuts. So both of them (the bird and the chipmunk) left the forest and came to the Stargazer hotel, where Dorine gives them the greatest peanuts every day. The end. P.S.
