Astronomy

"Oh My Stars!" Family & Youth Group Astro Camps.  StarGazers Inn offers special "Oh My Stars! Family and Youth Group Astro Camps that provide entertaining basic astronomy programs designed to engage kids and their parents.  Using fun and fascinating hands-on activities families can go on a "star search" and discover stellar nurseries, the birthplace of stars; visit neighboring stars and planets; follow a variety of stars through their evolutionary process; and manipulate the fabric of time and space by taking an imaginary journey into a black hole!  Make a Star Finder and an Ice Cream Comet and eat it!  Topics and activities can be tailored to the interest and age level of the children.  With only 5 guest rooms, StarGazers Inn is perfect for small family retreats, youth group retreats, and homeschooling programs

"Oh My Stars!" Workshops for Educators & Homeschooling Programs.  Studies have shown that science is best learned by doing, not just by listening or reading.  OMS! is an immersion in basic astronomy using fun and fascinating indoor and outdoor hands-on activities designed engage teachers and their students, and to stimulate questions and ideas.  Resource materials developed Astronomical Society of the Pacific for NASA / JPLs Night Sky Network and Project Astro.  May qualify for Continuing Education Unit (C.E.U) credits.  Topics and activities can be tailored to the interest and grade level of the students.

"Curse of the Comet" Murder Mystery Weekends.   What could be more perfect but a Murder Mystery with an astronomical theme?  Available on request when you book 3 or more rooms at StarGazers Inn.

StarGazers Inn Celestial Labyrinth Over the past ten years labyrinths have undergone a dramatic revival as a meditation, relaxation and spiritual tool. StarGazers plans to build a celestial labyrinth with design based on a spiral galaxy.

Celestial-themed Weddings and Vow Renewal Ceremonies.   Ceremonies are customized for each couple highlighting the constellations, stars and galaxies present in the night sky on their special day.  When completed, the walking the celestial labyrinth may also be incorporated into these ceremonies.

Big Bear Valley Astronomical Society BBVAS meetings are held at 8pm on the second Tuesday each month.  Meetings are free and open to the public. BBVAS is a member of the NASA Night Sky Program, offering Star Parties and events to the public.  StarGazers periodically hosts BBVAS meetings and arranges for special speaker presentations
